Most of the modern countries adopted information technology in their public utility services. All petrol pumps, they call them gas stations, Norway were automated. No person at stations to serve the petrol to your car.
You have to pump petrol your self and pay the bill by swiping the card. No malpractices at stations. Most of the stations were operated by companies themselves.
In India there is big mess in petrol pumps management. There are number of registered cases on pumps for various malpractices:
1.There are complaints that Stations not serving correct volume.
2. There are complaints that petrol was afultered with some lower grade products.
3. Sometimes operators cheat the customers by diverting the attention.
Byadopting automation one can avoid all these emberassments.
Further brokerage burden will be undone progressively on customers.
