One of the Thrilinga’s
Its an abode of Kaleshwara Mukteeshwara Swamy, one among Thrilinga’s, which is original source for Tilinga and Telangana… It is the site of a temple of the Hindu god Lord Shiva. The temple is significant because of the two Shiva Lingas that are found on a single pedestal. These Linga are named Lord Shiva and Lord Yama. Collectively, they known as Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy. Kaleshwaram is one of three Shiva temples mentioned in Trilinga Desham “Land of Three Lingas.”
Kaleshwaram is located exactly at the merging point of the Godavari River and its tributary, the River Pranahita. People believe that there is another river named saraswathi flowing under godavari and pranahita, therefore calling the meeting point as Triveni(three) Sangamam (Confluence). Kaleshwaram is center for pushkaras which are organised once for every 12 years. Saraswathi pushkaras took place in 2013 summer and godavari pushkaras are about to take place in 2015. All the 365 days fresh waters from Pranahitha flows here.
One can visit Kaleshwaram via Warangal, Parkal, Bhupalapalli, Mahadevpur or Via Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Manthanai, Mahadvepur.
