Return of the glory
After 56 years of exile, capital returning to Vijayawada-Guntur. According to reliable sources Andhra Pradesh Cabinet decided to establish its capital between Vijayawada-Guntur cities. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu may announce this in the State Assembly tomorrow afternoon. Chandrababu may also announce establishment of central and state institutions for each district in the state.
Vijayawada lost the chance of becoming capital in 1953 itself due to caste and regional clashes. Political establishment of those days united against one caste and Communists to oppose Vijayawada as capital. Communists and some Congress members insisted for Vijayawada.
But for mysterious reasons Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, Tanguturi Prakasham Panthulu, Subbareddy and others lobbied against Vijayawada and for Kurnool. Reddy-Brahmin lobby worked against Vijayawda.
When voting was conducted on capital question, Sanjeeva Reddy unmindful of ethics and declared procedures, roped some Tamil amd Malayalee MLAs to vote in favour of Kurnool. At that moment also Kurnool resolution won with a single vote lead. Its Manipulated.
Now that the history gave a chance to Vijayawada. Fortune returned back. Strategically it is right place to be a capital. Land availability is not a problem for capital fecilities. If we calculate the land used to capital fecilities in Hyderabad, its coming to around 250 acres.
This much land can be procured easily. For a capital to grow fast, it must be well connected by road, rail and air. Hence Vijayawada-Guntur stretch is highly eligible for the seat of power.
